Jabberwocky Farm & Yarn Report
As I write , only eleven more months of 2012 left! Exciting things to come in the upcoming months.
I would like to share with you some of the activities that are going on at Jabberwocky Farm.
Currently, we have been working on a passive geothermal stock water heating system. It consist of two 12” diameter PVC tubing going nine feet into the ground and the water tank sits on top of it. I am still fine tuning it and will have a complete information sheet on it after I record and track the results. The results so far have been promising. The temperature at the bottom of the nine foot holes has consistently stayed at 40.75 degrees even though the outside temp range at 8 AM has been anywhere from 27 to 6 degrees Fahrenheit. It is my hope that this passive heating system can trim $30.00 a month off of my electrical bill.
Kidding begins in March. That means new weaned kids and some quality breeding does will be available to purchase in June. I had the opportunity to have my white and gray does bred to a fantastic gray buck that was sired at Goat Knoll Farms in Oregon. The black does were bred to a magnificent frosted red buck sired at Goatique of Gunnison, CO. Both bucks have outstanding fiber.
The raw cashmere crop has all been sent to the mill for commercial processing. Many of the old favorites will be back.

Yes, time is measured by days, weeks, months. Time is spent in the cycle of living. The living is the moments and events in our lives. It is what makes the time remarkable .
Affectionately
From the cashmere goats, alpacas, the most vigilant guardian dogs and llamas, and Susanne
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susanne has always had a love for natural fabrics, and after she and her husband, Fred moved to Guffey, Colorado, she went to the basic level of fiber and fabric. She bought three cashmere goats, which quickly led to a herd of fifty.
Yearly, Susanne combs out the cashmere from the goats and has it commercially processed into the luxurious yarns you see here.
Jabberwocky Farm has been awarded Premiere Breeder of the Year at the Colorado State Fair for 2001, 2003, 2004 and Premier exhibitor for 2005. Many of our cashmere fleeces were awarded Purple and Blue Ribbons at the Estes Park Wool Market 2005, including Reserve White Fleece. In 2007 we were awarded 1st place in Dam & Daughter.
In addition to cashmere yarn, Jabberwocky can supply you with unique blends such as the Jabberwocky blend of alpaca, shetland sheep, and cashgora. Take a look in our yarn section for more details.
Also, having goats has led to the making of goat milk soap, goat milk bath salts, and goat milk body lotion. Goat milk has long been known for its gentle, non-drying, cleansing abilities.
